We started a different organization, a nonprofit - Compass for Life - to assist unhoused/homeless individuals and those exiting incarceration.

So, why did we create Compass Contractors?

As we moved forward with this mission, we realized that our community not only has a need for construction, repair, and handyman services, but that our clients need opportunities for training and employment.

To this end, the proceeds from Compass Contractors help clients of Compass for Life to:

Obtain housing & employment
Mend relationships
Pay off court costs and fines
Volunteer within the community

It started with a shared passion to help.

It ended in true love.

Owners, Kristi & Mann Carter were married in 2025.

About Compass for Life (Our Nonprofit Arm)

Compass for Life is an organization in the Alleghany Highlands that provides transitional housing for male individuals over the age of 18 who are facing homelessness, coming out of incarceration or dealing with substance use disorder.
Our goal is that each person we work with will gain the skills and resources to avoid any further arrests or incarcerations.
